I was supposed to be off the blog until I reached Boston.
Then I came across a nice story about behaviour modification in a six-year old. Homework goes Vroom, a must read, will tell you how a six-year-old was ‘gulled’ into loving spelling and giving up his precious train set.

I’ve decided to do things not because I need to, but because I have to. For example, cleaning house. Most of the time it needs to be cleaned, but I really only feel it has to be cleaned when people are coming over. So I don’t stress over it any more. I do things when I have deadlines to meet. Life’s too short to be worrying about the things to be done, as long as you’re confident you can get them done when they have to be done. I quickly learned in school how long I really need to accomplish a task (say, an essay due the next day). Now I manage quite well. So I would say to let the kid play with his train. He probably won’t play with it all weekend (kids get sick of things quickly), and then he can do his homework-as long as it’s done before school.
Congrats on the BOTD award!
